Council and Executive

St James Anglican Church is a part of the Diocese of Huron. Bishop Terry Dance and Archdeacon Sutton are our principal contacts in the London based home of the Diocese. The local governance of St James is exercised through an executive group and the Church Council.

The Executive

The executive comprises 2 Wardens (an elected People's Warden and an appointed Rector's Warden), 2 Deputy Wardens, the Treasurer and the Pastor. The excutive meets routinely on the 2nd Wednesday of each month and then as needed.

Currently the members of the Executive are:

Sylvia Kelly, Peoples Warden
Teresa Catherwood, Rector's Warden
Sue Carre, Deputy People's Warden
John Bell, Deputy Rector's Warden
David Eccles, Treasurer
Victor Krueger-Kischak, Pastor

The Church Council

The executive are joined by 10-12 other elected members of the congregation to form the Church Council. The council meets once a month - every 3rd Wednesday.

The Latest Financial Position

At the annual Vestry meeting the budget for the year is agreed. At each council meeting the latest financial position for the church is discussed.

The financial position is made available at the entrance to the church and is posted on the notice board at the entry to the Hall.

Building Committee

The Building Committee is tasked with renovating the church hall and (added recently) the maintenance of the church building proper.

In the summer of 2011 the upper hall and kitchen was renovated; the summary report on the Summer's activity is included

In the summer of 2012 the focus of work was on the lower floor washrooms, the office suite, various storage projects, clean up and on the replacement of the shingles on the roof of the church itself.

The program for 2013 is to build a carpark on the land to the south of the church hall, and a new, barrier free access to the lower floor of the church hall from the car park and from Burwell Street. Additionally the wooden flooring of the lower hall will be cleaned and resurfaced.
